Mireia de Querol is a dancer, independent maker and contemporary dance teacher, resident in Barcelona. She graduated at the BA for Modern Theatre Dance at the Theatreschool, Amsterdam School of the Arts (AHK), Holland, 2003-2007. Simultaneously she also graduated in Humanities at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2001-2008).
As a choreographer she created several pieces, of which her solo And all the others (2011) won the 3rd Prize at the Baltic Movement Contest of Gsansk, Poland (June 2011).
Since 2012 she has been working as a part of the Big Bouncers Collective together with Anna Rubirola and Cecilia Colacrai, with whom she created several pieces. Their piece Big Bounce won the “Applause to the emergent creation” prize at the Sebastià Gasch Awards, FAD 2015.
She is also part of the Group La Bolsa, which collaborated with Thomas Hauert in the creation of the piece The measure of disorder (Festival Grec 2015), and with which she continues developing new projects.
She also worked in collaboration with other independent makers: Ona Fusté, Montserrat Iranzo, Ariadna Estalella, Anna Mustonen and Mara Smaldone.
As a dancer she worked with the choreographers Kenzo Kusuda (Holland) and with the Compañia de Danza Plan B, directed by Arantxa Sagardoy (Spain). She worked in several productions with the choreographer and dancer Albert Quesada (Belgium), and with the Company Mudances, directed by Angels Margarit. She also collaborated with several choreographers based in Barcelona: Angela Lamprianidou, Ariadna Estalella and Sebastián García Ferro.
As a teacher she has been teaching contemporary dance classes, composition and improvisation since 2007 in several centres. Since 2016 she has been a part of the educational team of the Superior Conservatory for Dance (CSD) of the Institut del Teatre, Barcelona.
She took part in several educational projects like Tot dansa (2017, 2018 and 2020) in several high schools in Barcelona, and also in the project Segon es mou in several primary schools of the Anoia region, directed by the Conservatory of Igualada (2020).
Since 2014 she has been part of the direction and management team of the creation space La Visiva. From 2012 to 2017 she co-directed the IN SITU festival, coproduced by Arts Santa Mònica, Barcelona.
She also codirects the Jornada Motors de creació 2020, an open workshop about creation organized by APDC (Associacion of Dance Professionals of Catalonia) in collaboration with the CCCB (Center of Contemporary Culture in Barcelona).
